This Privacy Policy describes how FableHatch (“we”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our Service. We try to keep this short and human.

1. What we collect

Information you give us

• Account info: email, password, username, and optional profile fields like display name, bio, avatar, and social links.
• Content: stories, characters, posts, comments, messages, and images you publish or send.
• Communications: emails or messages you send to us (e.g. support requests).

Information collected automatically

• Usage: pages viewed, stories read, time on page, and similar metrics, used to power features like reading progress and recommendations.
• Device data: IP address, browser, device type, and approximate location, used for security and analytics.
• Cookies: we use first-party cookies for authentication and basic functional state. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

2. How we use it

• To provide and operate the Service.
• To send transactional and digest emails (you can opt out from your settings or via the unsubscribe link in any email).
• To recommend stories, characters, and creators.
• To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, or security risk.
• To comply with legal obligations.

3. How we share it

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

• With service providers we use to run the platform (e.g. hosting, database, transactional email). These vendors are bound to handle your data only on our instructions.
• When required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of FableHatch and its users.
• In a business transfer (merger, acquisition), in which case the acquirer assumes the obligations of this Policy.
• With your consent, or where you have made information public on the Service yourself.

4. Your choices

• Edit your profile: change your display name, bio, or avatar at any time from your settings.
• Notification controls: turn off in-app bell and email notifications by type from your settings.
• Block: block other users to remove their content from your view and prevent direct interaction.
• Delete your account: delete your account from your settings. We may retain certain records for security, legal, or audit purposes.

5. Children

FableHatch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us their information, please email us at privacy@fablehatch.com and we will delete it.

6. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest where appropriate. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. International users

FableHatch is operated from the United States. By using the Service, you consent to your information being processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

8. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-product or by email.
